For our February 2026 meeting, we are pleased to welcome Maureen Hintz. Her presentation is titled “Astronomical and Historical Origins of the Day, Month, and Year”. The meeting will be held on February 12 at 7 pm in the UVU planetarium. As always, those who want to are welcome to join us after the meeting for a social hour that we sometimes refer to as “Advanced Training”. Details for this will be shared at the meeting.
Maureen has been teaching astronomy in Utah County for over two decades, where she has pioneered incorporating the use of the planetarium during class time. She has recently been chosen by the International Planetarium Society as the “Week in Italy” recipient for 2026, where she will travel to Italy and give presentations on the astronomical and historical origins of days, months, and years to schools and public groups.
She will be giving UVAC the planetarium version of the presentation, where she will show how we can measure the day, month, and year with astronomical objects and how ancient cultures did too.
