We had a great star party on the evening of June 6, 2026, at Camp Floyd. We’re very grateful to the state park for providing us with a new observing area that is very large and free from dust. It’s also much easier for the guests to find us and enjoy the telescopes.
We had some doubt about the clouds earlier in the day, but the weather gods smiled on us, and we had a more or less cloud-free evening of observing. There were plenty of telescopes, from little smart scopes to SCTs and small reflectors to a wonderful 12″ dobsonian. Jupiter looked great, and we were also able to look at many deep sky objects.
The evening was very well attended. We had guests who found out about it via this website, Facebook, and the Camp Floyd website.
We’ll have one more public star party at Camp Floyd on August 8.
